Camp Olympia Comes Through!

By:

Upon returning from their week at Camp Olympia, a change in the 5th grade students was noticeable.  Students now see the value in maintaining and protecting their natural surroundings. On the Berry Elementary campus, there is a nature trail for all grade-levels to enjoy. The 5th grade students have now assumed a leadership role in taking care of the nature trail through trash pick-up efforts, and planting plants that will provide nutrients for local wildlife.  Also, 5th graders participated in a Saturday school-wide work day in which they helped spread mulch for the campus vegetable gardens. The teamwork skills developed at Camp Olympia were on full display as students designed spaces for each participant to manage and work on.
