Healthy Hornets
By:
Healthy Hornets is a cafeteria program that encourages students to eat more fruits and vegetables. During the second through fifth six weeks of the school year, students are "caught" eating fruits and vegetables by the cafeteria monitors during their lunch. If a student is "caught" eating fruits and vegetables they receive a ticket to write their name and teachers name on. The students drop their ticket into the Healthy Hornet box. Each six weeks, ten names are drawn out of the Healthy Hornet box. The winning names are announced on the morning annoucements. Students who have their name announced receive a prize which is donated by Katy ISD Food Services. In addition to their prize, students receive a certificate that is displayed in the cafeteria. After the six weeks is over, students take their certificates home.
