Time to Get Unplugged
By:
The challenge is on for Kramer Colts. It is time to GET UNPLUGGED to improve their health, body and mind. We want our students and families to be healthy and fit, so we asked them to commit to one day of being unplugged. Select one day a week when they would not find themselves rooted to a chair in front of a television or computer. They need disconnect time to save energy and set themselves in motion. We asked them to find other activities to share with their family such as playing board games, practicing instruments, working outside, doing chores around the house, anything that involves MOVEMENT! Students were given monthly calendars to record the day and hours they were unplugged. Their goal is to spend at least 4 days a month being totally unplugged for a 24 hour period.
A bulletin board display by the gym shows the total number of hours students at each grade level spent being unplugged and getting fit. There is a graph to show the past month results and a graph that shows a running total for the months of January, February, March, April and May.
As a school, the total hours for being active and unplugged are as follows:
January 1,522 hours
February 2,318 hours
March 3,213 hours
April 4,005 hours
May
Our results for the year are shown on the following pictures.
