Information for being healthy
Research shows students learn better when they are well nourished. Healthy eating has been linked to higher grades, better memory, more alertness, etc. and improved health leading to better school attendance. According to the nutrition blog on the Mayo Clinic website, kids who eat healthy are more likely to be in school and participating.
It is important to eat a high-quality breakfast. A diet high in junk food and sugary sodas is also linked to childhood obesity, which could result in lower brain functioning. Eliminate food and drinks made with high-fructose corn syrup. Also, eat salads, raw or steamed vegetables, and whole grains.
