Who is the audience?
Children and teenagers between the ages of ten and fifteen is the age group that we will intend to make a video game for.
What healthy food, exercise, and healthy lifestyle choices lesson do you want to teach in your game?
Did you know that more than one-third of the U.S. adults’ population (or 35.7%) is obese? Approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese[1]. The amount of obese individuals today is set at an alarming number and increases each and every day. Often times you will see that people are over-weight because of bad eating habits and lack of exercise. As a result of this alarming rate-and the desperate need to decrease it- the lifestyle choice lesson that my group decided to teach in our game was Weight Management. One of the things we will focus on teaching to the player of the game is how to maintain a healthy weight by eating right and exercising regularly.
What is the story behind your game?
Our game will close in on an average teenage boy named, “Doof”. Doof will embark on a journey to the park, where he is planning on exercising to maintain his healthy weight. However, while on his journey he becomes hungry and goes to get a quick bite to eat. As he goes to decide where he will eat he comes in contact with fatening, greasy, and very un-healthy foods. He will have to choose between avoiding this un-healthy food and eating the healthier options to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
What is the objective of your game?
A few of the objectives that my group will try to incorporate into our video game will include:
- Collect all of the healthy sprites.
- Avoid the un-healthy choices of food-or the enemies.
- There will be a few levels with a set time limit, however this will vary depending on the difficulty of the game.
- There will be levels where you can shoot the enemy to complete it.
- In EVERY level you will have to be able to somehow get to the yellow star-or the end of the level. Once you get to the star you have completed that level.
