Using energy and resources wisely
By:
The "Watt Watcher Program" started in January 2011. After meeting with the Energy Management Specialist at RRISD we were informed about the program. Seeing as our campus already has alot of green factors about it i.e lights automatically switching off, motioned sensors on faucets, etc. We had to come up with our own checklist. We were asked by the Energy Specialist if they could use our report for all of the new and upcoming campuses in RRISD.
Our Student Council agreed to carry out our campus patrols they checked on the following :
Using recycling bins, lights/monitors/overhead projectors off, thermostat temp, personal lamps off and dripping faucets.
Notes are left on wipe boards to let students and teachers know what they can improve on or what a great job that class is doing. A plush Polar Bear is left behind to a classroom that has done an excellent job, as a way of reminding students that they are also helping the ice glaciers from melting!
The student council performed a skit at a Friday Assembly to let students and teachers know what "Watt Watchers Patroled".
