Adopt a Beach Clean Up Day!

Oppe Elementary hosted its first beach clean up Saturday April 28th on 52nd street in front of the San Luis hotel with over 130 people in attendance! Oppe became an official beach guardian this spring granted by the Texas General Land Office and adopted 1 mile of Texas coast. The mile stretches between 45th street and 61st street which is a popular spot for island tourist. Our goal is to inform the community about the importance of taking care of our beaches so that our oceans stay clean and safe.

Oppe’s Green Team sponsored by Katie Blaser organized this event for the community. The Green Team partnered with the San Luis resort who provided refreshments for the beach clean up volunteers. It takes everyone working together to keep our island free of debris and litter so that all can enjoy it.
