Vermicomposting or worm composting is one of the favored interests of the Mitchell gardeners. Our little gardeners enjoy feeding their little friends, checking their bedding and utilizing the worm poo and pee to feed our plants. There are always lots of "ewwws" and "ahhhhs" coming from the worm bin on any given day. The students are amazed at what these hard working creatures accomplish in a short amount of time. The transformation of our cafeteria waste into nutrient rich fertilizer is a wonderful site to behold. No matter how often we tend to the worms, this process is still met with surprise each time.
