Plant Rescue

By:

Plant Rescue, P Carr, Fort Worth Country Day School

The Project Prairie team and volunteers went to Willow Park, TX and rescued 37 plants from a prairie that was about to be developed. With the assistance of John Snowden, a native grass expert, students identified and dug up native prairie plants and brought them back to Fort Worth Country Day. The team and volunteers replanted the specimens onto eroded sections of our prairie. Several new species were added to the green roof tables, such as hairy grama, tall grama, and hairy fluff grass. Participants included 20 students and 3 adults.
