Planting Day
By:
In mid-November, the Doss community came together to add native plants to our Outdoor Wildlife Learning (OWL) Center. More than 200 students in every grade spent part of their day "getting their hands dirty" by putting the plants into the ground. The following are just a few of the things we heard the kids say that day:
”I love getting my hands dirty!”
“Can we do this next recess?”
“I am going to show my mom and granddad”
“We want a garden at home”
“We get to have class out here!”
Since then, the plants have begun to grow in to truly fill the space. Many have bloomed, and our students have been very proud of the garden's progress.
I have attached two letters written by third graders at Doss. These letters give us a glimpse of how the gardens are experienced by our students.
