Botanic Gardens Field Trip
By:
The four kindergarten classes took an exploring field trip to the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens to explore the areas of science we've studied in class. The students were led through various trails in the garden, documenting their observations in their Botanic Garden journals. The students wrote about bodies of water (streams and ponds), parts of plants, trees, living and non-living objects in the gardens, flowers, leaves, and animals. The then took these journals back to school to complete and illustrate and then home to share their learning with their families.
The field trip was a high-quality, hands-on application and extension of their learning in multiple subject areas. They gained a greater understanding and appreciation and respect for natural areas, and were excited to show and use that knowledge in such a fun and stimulating environment.
