Birdfeeder Project

Project description: Students were asked to design and construct birdfeeders to hang in the playground using recycled objects.  Once the birdfeeders were made, the students from each class voted on a birdfeeder to place outside. The students went outside daily for one week.  They observed and made inferences on which birdfeeder the birds preferred based on the amount of food eaten from each and the evidence of bird activity. Below are some pictures of this process and the winning birdfeeder.

And the Winner is...

Due to its durability to rain and water dish along the side, the students observed that the birds preferred this style birdfeeder. This was empty daily and always needed to get replenished.
