Our Rainwater Cistern

By:

With a grant from the Central Texas Groundwater Conservation District and donations from Backbone Valley Nursery, we were able to install a 300 gallon cistern and native (deer repellent!) plants in a flower bed just outside our art classroom. Students have watched as the cistern has filled to the top, and provided water for the plants. The water is drained from the roof of the gym, so a volunteer assisted us in installing the cistern with a run-off pipe for the overflow.
