Green Ribbon Kick-Off Assembly
By: wyatt
Wyatt kicked off its green programs with a Green Ribbon Kick-Off Assembly led by our Partner in Education, Todd Boone, Wyatt parent and Frito Lay employee. Mr. Boone encouraged all students to recycle in the cafeteria implementing our
partnership with Terracycle for juice pouches and chip bags and with Reimagine Recycle for cans and bottles. He also encouraged Zero-Waste Lunchboxes.
Mr. Boone and his team designed the posters used in the Cafeteria for recycling.
Wyatt Girl Scouts collected these items regularly throughout the year to sort, ship or deliver and earn Wyatt some points. We were able to donate some of our points to our sister school Siegler Elementary to purchase PE equipment. Wyatt has twice been the Plano winner of recycling contests which have earned the school hundreds of dollars in office/school supplies.
Here is the notice on the Wyatt Wire to parents:
GREEN RIBBON SCHOOL KICK-OFF ASSEMBLY
Todd Boone, a Wyatt parent and our "Partner in Education" from Frito
Lay, kicked-off our GREEN RIBBON SCHOOL program at this Friday's early morning
assembly. Wyatt Wallaroos learned about recycling in the cafeteria and packing
healthy, zero-waste lunches. Wyatt Girl Scout troops are regularly collecting
the drink pouches, chip bags, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans and earning
points for Wyatt to do good in the community.
