Butterfly Garden

     Troy's Tropics of Sarasota, Florida is always willing to help out local schools.  When Mrs. Ayad, a Wilkinson Elementary 2nd grade teacher, asked them for a donation of pots to start a school garden, Troy took it a step further and donated 15 plants to use for a butterfly garden!  Local high school students planted the garden on August 25th.  Our school's Master Gardener gave us the names of the plants and an idea of what butterflies would be attracted.  The plants include herbs as well as flowers.  Our students will conduct an ongoing survey to identify the butterflies that are attracted to the garden.  The insects will help to pollinate our vegetable garden which is going to be planted in the next few weeks.
