Story: You have just fallen down to the bottom of your life. You were once healthy, but there were many temptations and distractions that led you off a healthy path. You are overweight (going to obesity) and now you have to endure the difficult journey of picking up the broken pieces of your shattered life.
Objective: In this game, the avatar will have to collect apples and avoid fatty foods, that are its enemies. Each time they touch it, it will loose time to live. Make sure the avatar eats healthy, runs quick to get a good exercise, and collect the broken pieces of its life, in order to excel to the next level and make it to the top!!!
Audience: This game is designed for people ages 7 and up
Team Members: Yasmine, Hannah, and Abby
Health Lesson: Although many people today are busy with homework or actual work schedule, this is not an excuse to not exercise daily and cook healthy meals. To keep up with a healthy life style, this takes effort from the person trying to change from fast food and laziness. In order to accomplish this, people must find free time or breaks to go the gym or go to the grocery store and get healthy ingredients. If this can be successful, then people have a better chance of avoiding obesity and the punishments that come along with it.
Obesity:
- means having too much body fat
-
It is not the same as being overweight (which
means weighing too much by having extra muscle, bone, or water, as well as from
having too much fat
-
Both mean that a person's weight is higher than what it should be based on their height.
Causes
- Obesity can be caused by taking in more calories
that you can burn. The extra calories would be unused and stored as fat. - Obesity can also be caused by:
- Eating more food than your body can use
- Drinking too much alcohol
- Not getting the right amount of exercise
Incidences
- Many obese people who lose a lot of weight then
gain all of it back again think that this is their fault and they blame themselves. This can actually cause an obese person to gain more weight than they lost due to depression or feeling sad - Some people who live in the same place all the time and eat the same foods day after day become obese. This can happen to some
people while it does not happen to others depending on a person's body system. - The way we eat as children affect the way we eat as adults. We grow into habits of when we eat, what we eat daily, and how much we eat.
Risk Factors
It is very easy to overeat and harder to stay active when there are so many tempting distractions in our world.
- Many people do not have time to cook healthy
meals - More people work desk jobs than jobs involving activity and physical exercise.
- People with less free time usually
do not exercise when they get to have those times.Usually students or adults are occupied with homework or working jobs. - You can also gain weight by:
- Quitting smoking
- Having stress
- Dealing with anxiety
- Feeling sad
- Not sleeping well
