Recycle/Waste
1. Activity-Paper Recycling Program-year round
Purpose-To reduce the amount of waste currently going into our dumpsters, as well as reduce the monthly trash bill that currently exceeds $500.00 per month. For each ton of paper recycled, seven full-grown trees are saved from harvesting.
Who will be involved in activity? This is a school wide activity-grades Pre-K3-8th grade.

2. Activity- America Recycles Day November 15, 2012
Purpose- Curbside recycling does not include plastic bags. A plastic bag-recycling event will help educate people that recycling plastic bags is as simple as bringing them back to participating stores.
Who will be involved in activity? This is a school wide activity-grades Pre-K3-8th grade.

3. Activity-HalloGREEN-October 22-31, 2012
Purpose-Students in 3rd grade have a lesson on recycling and discuss the importance of recycling. Over a two-week period students are encouraged to bring in a variety of cardboard boxes from home to become more aware of how many boxes are used.

4. Activity-Electronics Recycling Program-April 15-May 15, 2013
Purpose-Recycle Treasure Hunt-To raise awareness for recycling electronics. Students will be introduced to activity with a fun film on recycling. A point system for each item based on recyclables will be used. The class with the most points earns a free nut day (No Uniform Today), crazy hat or sock day, or ice cream sundae party.

5. Activity-Fall Festival Recycling-November 9-11, 2012
Purpose-To involve school and church community in caring for God's Creation. Middle school teens will separate bottles, cans and cups at the end of each night. Habitat for Humanity will collect the cans as a donation and other plastic items will be placed in recycle bin.

What is the budget for activity? Zero- Habitat for Humanity will supply the boxes for plastic bottles, aluminum cans, plastic cups
6. Activity-Recycle egg cartons- April 2013
Purpose- Curbside recycling does not include Styrofoam egg cartons. An egg carton recycling event will help educate people that recycling egg cartons is as simple as bringing them back to participating stores.

7. Activity-Recycle Bowl- October 15th-November 9, 2012
Purpose- To help our students get more involved and focus on recycling plastic material

8. Activity-Recycle Glue sticks and glue bottles-January-June 2013
Purpose- Elmer's Glue Crew Recycling Program is a fun, hands-on way to teach about recycling.
Who will be involved in activity? This is a school wide activity-grades Pre-K3-8th grade.
How will activity be recorded? Photos and counted.
What is the budget for activity? Elmer's Glue Crew pays for shipping.
9. Activity-Totem Poles- September 24 & 25, 2012
Purpose- Students will use recycled materials to create totem poles. The purpose of this activity is to expand our studies of Native American Tribes in North America. Recycling is a good way to teach kids how to be good citizens, while learning about the world around them.

1. Activity-Daily Outdoor Recess-Daily August-May weather permitting
Purpose- Students are encouraged to have a nutritious snack and to participate in physical activities at this time.
Who will be involved in activity? Our four preschool classes have a thirty-minute scheduled recess time between 9:30-11:30 am. Grades 1st-5th have recess time from 10:00-10:15 am.
How will activity be recorded? Teachers take random photos of students for the yearbook or class album.
What is the budget for activity? Zero cost

1. Activity-Red Ribbon Week 2012-November 5-November 9, 2012
Purpose- Students learn about staying drug free and participate in many fun and charitable activities for the week.
Who will be involved in activity? This is a school wide activity-grades Pre-K3-8th grade.

What is the budget for activity? Fee for Speaker and each student gets a drug free bracelet.

2. Activity-Jump Rope for Heart- Mid February 2013
Purpose- To promote community service through this educational program and to raise money to fund lifesaving research and educational programs. Students will set and achieve goals and discover that they can make a difference.

5. Activity- 3rd Annual Eagle Pride 5K/1 mile run November 10, 2012
Purpose-To bring students, parents and church community together and promote healthy habits.

1. Activity-Earth Friendly Announcements-All year
Purpose-To provide weekly earth-friendly announcements and encourage students, teachers and parents to recycle and become more aware ways to go green.
Who will be involved in activity? Our 8th grade students will announce a green tip every Thursday morning and afternoon. The same tip will go in our E-news for parents. Different members of the Green Team will provide an updated bulletin board monthly with green tips or green events that are taking place.
How will activity be recorded? Tips will be included in our e-news. Photos will be taken of bulletin boards.
What is the budget for activity? Zero. Teachers will use materials available from their classroom.
2. Activity-Earth Day Celebration- April 22-26, 2013
Purpose-To raise awareness students will participate in Earth Week Celebrations- free GREEN NUT day, Daily tips, lesson plans, and activities.
