Project Title: McKinney Roughs Outdoor encounter for 5th grade
Discover Texas
By:
Fuentes 5th graders learned all about native plants and animals in a discovery trip to McKinney Roughs nature preserve in April. The hiking and outdoor experience was informative and fun. 86 students took part in the fieldtrip that included animal and track identification, river and waterways of Texas and how the rains and droughts affect our rivers, native plant discovery and how native plants are suited to our climate and soil. There were multiple opportunities for students to discover, dialogue with naturlaists and each other and just get outside and enjoy nature. The students spent an entire day actively discovering Texas.
