Target Audience: Everyone, specifically children to teenagers.
Story: Our game, Nutrition Expedition, follows the story of Jordan, an everyday kid who unfortunately fights the battle of staying healthy. Jordan decides to join a health club and learns a lot about staying healthy. Jordan winds up getting fit and leaves knowing how to keep one's self healthy.
Objective: As people play the game, we intend to teach the player about getting and staying healthy by playing the game as Jordan learns as well, as we pulled from real healthy living guidelines to teach the player how to stay healthy.
Health Lesson: Primarily our game focused on three aspects of healthy living: eating well, regular exercise, and awareness of eating disorders and how to avoid them. A brief summery include making healthy eating choices. This includes choosing food options like fresh fruit and vegetables instead of junk food or unhealthy fast food.
We teach the player that regular exercise is integral to getting in shape and staying in shape. 30 to 60 minutes per day is the recommended amount of physical exercise for everyone.
Finally we teach the player about the dangers of various types of eating disorders, incuding bulimia and anorexia, as well as warning signs and how to treat them.
