Fuel Up to Play 60

By:

Carpenter Hill Elementary received the Touchdown Award with Fuel Up to Play 60 by completing the 6-step program.   This year we received a nearly $4000 grant from the program to help with nutrition and physical activity.

The grant provided money for student incentives for eating healthy in the cafeteria, posters promoting nutrition and fitness, healthy snacks for every student during field day, cooking demo with students, In-Class Activity break kits, and Colt Stampede and other events to promote healthy choices.  During the months of March, April, & May, 4 lunch monitors and cafeteria staff promoted healthy eating by rewarding students in the cafeteria with 1000 stickers, 600 pencils, 150 bookmarks, 200 erasers, and other words of encouragement for eating healthy during lunch time.  All 650 students were involved and challenged to "Eat a complete plate, eat a rainbow, try something new, drink milk, eat lots of fruits and veggies!"

Fuel Up to Play 60 is a program founded by the National Dairy Council and NFL, in collaboration with USDA, that empowers students to take charge in making small, everyday changes at school. Students can win cool prizes, like an NFL player visit or Super Bowl tickets, for choosing good-for-you foods and getting active for at least 60 minutes every day. We want kids to make a difference not only in their lives, but also their community.[image] Touchdown Award[image] Incentives[image] Got Milk Incentive in Cafeteria
