Nike Reuse-A-Shoe

Nike Reuse-A-Shoe, An Earth Week Activity
As part of Earth Week, the Carpenter Hill PTA Environmental Committee collected old, worn-out tennis shoes, of any brand, to be donated to the Nike Reuse-A-Shoe Program. In four days, 190 pairs of tennis shoes were collected from our students in grades K-5. These shoes were then taken to Nike Outlet in San Marcos, TX. Nike will recycle these shoes into track and play surfaces and also use them to make Nike Grind products.
Since 1990, Nike has recycled more than 25 million athletic shoes through the Nike Reuse-A-Shoe Program. This includes locations in the U.S., Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Not only is athletic shoe recycling easy, it is also a way to be a more concious consumer.
