Paper recycling through AbiBow Recycling LLC
By:
Eisenhower High School has been recycling paper for the past 8 years. We started off using cardboard boxes that broke easily and had to be replaced often. After a year of this we upgraded to 18 gallon plastic totes that were placed in each classroom to collect paper, plastic and other recyclable materials. In February 2010 we finally were able to get an account approved through AbiBow Recycling LLC and we upgraded again to include a blue bin in each class for plastic and other recyclable materials and a second, green bin to collect the paper. The Environmental science classes collect the recyclables weekly.
In 2010 we collected 27.30 tons of paper which earned the Environmental club $187.65.
In 2011 we collected 26.67 tons earning $133.37.
In 2012 we collected 22.15 tons earning $110.69.
And as of April 2013 we have collected 8.35 tons earning $41.74.
