Natural Spaces

A team effort from Wood shop, Environmental Science classes, a local Brownie troop and art classes resulted in a renovation of the garden area around our electronic sign using plants that are native to Michigan. We also built/painted/installed bird houses around campus. Grant monies were used to purchase posts to elevate the bird houses and wood shop scraps were recycled to build the houses. The art classes then painted the bird houses blue and white to match the school colors and wood shop students did the installation. Grant money was also used to purchase supplies to renovate the garden area around our electronic sign. Old, dead foliage was removed, black border was added to straighten out the lines and to hold mulch in place. We trimmed trees and planted flowers that are native to Michigan's climate.
If you look close enough you can see the bird in the house sitting on her eggs.
