Green Meadows Farm
By:
Ms. Kniepmann's and Ms. Murphy's 1st grade students were studying and learning about life cycles and how we care for God's gifts of creation. To culminate this learning unit the students went to Green Meadows Farm in Kissimmee, Florida on March 22, 2013. It is the perfect setting for our students to interact and learn about farm animals by touch, sight, smell and sound; truly a sensory learning experience. Students had the opportunity to milk a cow, hold chickens and ducks, feed goats and sheep, observe pigs, a ostrich, a zorse, a yak, peacocks and ride a horse. At the end of the day they enjoyed a hayride. They left the farm with fond memories and a greater appreciation for God's wonderful creations. The next day the students wrote about what they learned on their adventure at the farm. As we compare and contrast the different life cycles and animals, we composed lists of their attributes and how they help them survive in their different environments.
