Pathways Plays & Moves!
By:
Pathways Community School plays and moves with daily experiences and opportunities to expand physical movement, gross motor, fine motor and health! Each school day begins with daily P.E. classes that provide structured and unstructured activities. Students are guided through a sequence of activities, with the assistance of staff members and visual supports.
Completing a minimum of 3 laps around the school gym (based upon physical ability), students participate in up to 6 structured activities with peers and staff members. Each activity focuses upon a different physical skill, interactive game play, sensory experience or fine motor skill.
Once completing the structured sequence, students have the opportunity to make choices about the unstructured activities in which they would like to participate! Students use their verbal skills and a visual choice board to select preferred activities, even interacting with peers.
Additionally, there are 2 more "Open Gym" times available to students to increase the amount of exercise and physical activity of the student body. These open gym times include opportunities to participate in outside activities as well (weather permitting).
