Science Fair

Barton Middle School Students experienced scientific methods and explored subjects of interest by participating in an earth friendly science fair. 320 students took part in the event that was held at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center on 12/4-6/2012. Student projects were due on 11/19/2012 and judged by administrators and teachers. Winners of the campus event went on to compete in a district wide science fair.

Some of the exciting discovery projects focused on clean energy. The winner in the photo explored color and solar energy. Another young scientist made a phone charger powered by the sun. Students were judged according to a rubric and very specific criteria. They determined their hypothesis and a purpose statement, performed the scientific experiment, collected the data, wrote a conclusion, then created a project display board, wrote a summary that discribed their process from start to finish, and finally presented their findings.
