Astronomy Night
By:
Recently the North Star School went to Sky Ranch. One night the students went to a sitting area and learned about astronomy.
At first we tried naming some stars and finding the location of them. Then the students were given a star chart and figured out how to use them. It was very cloudy that night but they were able to find a few stars and get the names. After having fun with the star chart the kids were given the history of the North Star. They found out that the North Star now was not the same as the one 1,000 years ago, and will not be the same star as the one 1,000 years in the future. When they finished learning that they look at the moon and learned some of the theories about how we got our moon and why it is so important to our Earth. Sadly it started to rain and some of the children went back to their cabins. But some stayed to look at the moon through a telescope. They saw some of the craters and mountains.
