Camp Kappe School of Environmental Education
By:
The 5th graders attended Camp Kappe School of Environmental Education. The students stayed in cabins from Tuesday until Friday. Students explored the outdoors, canoed, gardened, engaged in team-building activities, and helped care for farm animals. They also did archery, compass work, bird-watching, and pond study. The night hike on Tuesday was a great way to star-gaze and listen to frog calls. On Thursday night, the students enjoyed a camp fire while they performed skits about what they learned during the week. The final day activity was a scavenger hunt over the whole camp using compass skills.
Results:
31 students were actively engaged at Environmental Education Camp for four days and three nights.
What can your school do?
Fifth graders across the U.S. attend Environmental Education Camp as part of the Science Curriculum. Many school districts have their own camps.
Fundraisers from bake sales and Scentsy sales helped our students raise money for the bus transportation and 40% of the camp fee. Families paid for the remaining 60% of the cost.
