Project Title: Exploring Family Food Traditions
Luau Pig
By:
by Lia, age 9
My name is Lia and I live on the Big Island of Hawaii.
When we have parties or holidays or other special days we make kalua pig. When our friends came to visit from the main land they called it luau pig so that is what I used for a title.
The way you cook the pig is to dig a big hole that is an oven. We call it an imu. You wrap the pig in leaves and cover it with stones and have a big fire.
It smells so good when it cooks! And it tastes awesome too!
