Project Title: Exploring Family Food Traditions
Berry Clafouti
By:
by Felice, age 10
I am named after my Grandma Felice. She was born in France and moved here when she got married to my grandfather.
She is teaching me to cook and my favorite thing is a dessert called clafouti. It is sort of like a cross between a puffy pancake and pudding and berry pie. That's not right but I don't know how to describe it.
You make it with cherries or berries and eggs, cream, melted butter, vanilla and a tiny bit of flour. It puffs up in the oven and taste likes like the dessert of my dreams when it's baked.
We made the one in the picture with blueberries because we didn't have any cherries and grandma said being a good cook means using whatever you have and making it taste wonderful. And that is what we did!
