Snake Farm Field Trip
By:
This spring, 102 first graders visited the New Braunfels Animal World and Snake Farm in central Texas. The goal of the fieldtrip was to study the habitats of numerous different animals. The students spent time in the classroom prior to the fieldtrip studying the animals and their habitats. The fun part came when they were actually able to apply their learning and explore the top-notch facility in New Braunsfels. The students were able to see and describe the animal's habitat and see how important it is to do our part to preserve their natural world and protect them. There are over 500 animals for the children to see and enjoy.
A longtime animal rescuer, Dr. Eric Trager, now owns the New Braunfels Animal World and Snake Farm. He took over the facility with the hopes of making it a world class zoo. They have upgraded the exhibits to provide the animals with an environment that accurately mimics it's natural habitat.
It's a great learning experience for the students. They understand and respect the animal habitats now.
