Green Meadows Farm

Green Meadows Farm was a fantastic outdoor experience for our first graders on April 23, 2015. Luckily, the heavy rains ceased long enough for the students to have some great encounters with the animals. They were able to observe and appreciate many examples of God's awesome creations as they moved around the farm learning about a variety of animals that live there. Students were able to see, hear, touch, and smell the animals living on the farm. Students had the opportunity to feed goats and pet their brand new baby goats, pet the freshly sheared sheep, ride a horse, milk a cow, catch chickens, and see peacocks, pigs, a zorse and a yak. It was a wonderful sensory experience for all! The trip to the farm helped students answer questions they had and offered opportunities to make many connections to our learning throughout the year about the structure and function of living things. In the days following the field trip, students used their first grade writing and grammar skills to write narratives about their experiences and illustrate their observations of the trip to Green Meadows Farm.
