6th Annual BW Bike Challenge and KICKOFF for Natio

For 6th Years now, Bryker Woods Elementary School has promoted Biking to School through a Bike Challenge during Bike to School Month.  Bike Trains have been organized to help students make it to school safely all year long.  Every Friday, Bike Trains meet at locations (usually homes) to begin their bike to school with the safety of parent volunteers leading the trains.  During the Month of May, A Neighborhood Bike Challenge Kicks-Off the Month, encouraging more bikers to hit the road.  The more bikers on the neighborhood train, the higher ranked the train is for the challenge.  At the end of the month, trains are awarded for their participation!  Read below at the posts showing the organization of the system used at our school and begin your own neighborhood bike trains!

1st SCHOOL-WIDE POST:
 
BW BIKE CHALLENGE KICKOFF (5/6) + BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY (5/13)

The first week of May is right around the corner. 

We will be kicking off National Bike Month on Friday 5/6 with the 6th Annual Bryker Woods Elementary Neighborhood Bike Challenge. In addition, Friday 5/13 is National Bike to School Day @ Bryker Woods Elementary.

Join your (or any) neighborhood bike train to school  on Friday (5/6) and every Friday in May! We will record how many bikers are on each bike train. The neighborhood train with the highest participation wins.

Get your whole neighborhood involved in supporting your neighborhood bike train - students, faculty, parents, grandparents, siblings, neighbors! Anyone can ride with us.

Bike Train departure times and locations are the same as every Friday:

Heritage Neighborhood: Meet no later than 7:15 a.m., departure will be at 7:20 a.m, Will Clark, 3011 West Ave 

Bryker Woods Neighborhood: Meet no later than 7:20a.m., departure will be at 7:25 a.m., Cord Dover, 1701 W. 30th Street.

Oakmont/Ridgelea Neighborhood: Meet no later than 7:20a.m., departure will be at 7:25 a.m. John Bello/Brian Toronyi, 1804 W 37th St.

Rosedale Neighborhood: Meet no later than 7:20a.m., departure will be at 7:25 a.m., Ward Lowe, Ramsey Park Tennis Courts
