Healthy Choices - Care Flight

Healthy Choices - Red Ribbon Week
Our school counselor, Charlie Garrett, found an exciting way to educate students about healthy choices to stay safe. The Denton County Care Flight crew flew a helicopter over our school and landed in the parking lot.
The rescue workers talked to 530 students from Justin Elementary in two groups that day; K-2 and 3-5.
The topics of conversation were about wearing a seatbelt, sitting in the backseat of the car, and wearing a helmet when riding a bike or skateboard. The Care Flight also shared stories of rescues and the danger involved in drinking alcohol while driving. The students got to raise their hands and ask questions.
This program was free of charge. The local school resource officer from the Justin Police Department helped to contact the Care Flight crew and coordinate the presentation.
The counselor also reminded the students of fun activities and dress up events that would align with each day of Red Ribbon Week. These silly outfits give us a shared experience to educate and remind students about making good choices that keep us safe!
