Experimenting with hydroponics and aquaponics

What is hydroponics our simple explanation?
First you need to understand how plants really grow. Did you know tha they dont actually need soil at all? They need the nutrients hiding in it.
We learned that in a hydroponic garden, crops are supported in a natural medium like gravel or clay rocks. Then you mix up a batch of hydroponic solution, which has all the essential nutrients the plant needs. This liquid food is then circulated around the roots of the plants by either which action (passive system) or an active pump. Viola! The ultimate growing machine
The active system, in which the hydroponic solution is pumped to the plants is really efficient. It is fantastic for a fully automated grow room or green house.
EBB & Flow System Flood and Drain
This hydroponic system works by temporarily flooding the grow barrels. The nutrient solution from a resorvoir surrounds
the roots before draining back to the reservior. This action is usually automated with a water pump on a timer.
