Green Team Recycling

Withers Elementary Green Team has been instrumental in helping our school's recycling efforts. The team consists of 4th and 5th graders and they pick up recycling twice weekly. They used the money from the recycling project to purchase a rain harvesting barrel and drip irrigation system for our school gardens and we now have the capability to help sustain the garden with rainwater. We have also begun composting to help maintain the garden. We have been recognized in the Dallas Independent School District for our recycling efforts. We work closely with the district's recycling committee to help promote recycling. The Green Team also presented a program for the PTA during Green Month to promote recycling and performed various songs about gardening and recycling.
