Earth Celebration Involvment.

1200 k-12 students.
300 high school kids cleaned up the k-12 Greyhound campus. Raking, weeding, woodchipping, trash collecting, painting, planting and pulling out a fence where the wind turbine will be installed next year.
Then the high school kids presented to the 900 k-8 kids. High school kids were leaders for the younger classes leading them around our celebration area behind our football stadium. The fire department was on hand for woodland safety, Energy Works Michigan about conservation,Dowding Industries from town brought out a huge turbine component on a semi trailer.
The science classes had posters and demos to teach about energy types, the Interact club had stories, face painting and hands on crafts. The 4-H club and Equestrian Team had animals for demonstrations and a petting zoo.
We also had a tour of our greenhouse and the salmon project at the high school.
At 5pm we had a deication ceremony for the future wind turbine. We recieved a donation of $10,000 in the will of a community memeber. The principal, superintendant, mayor, cheif of police,school board members, commmunity members and students were present for the ceremony.
Over All a Great Day.
We have had letters of thank you from the students and staff that were involved. The high school students recieved awards of community service involvement for the day.
