Doss Earth Week 2011
By:
Thanks to our Doss PTA Green Team leadership, we had another successful Earth Week this year. We saw lots of black and green t-shirts and trash-free lunches. And 148 Doss students swapped more than 400 books on Thursday! All of the leftover books were donated to T.A. Brown Elementary as part of the School Supply and Book Drive. Great job saving and sharing those resources! Kudos to the 3rd graders! They earned the popsicle party by having the most participants by a grade level walk, bike ride, carpool, or scoot to school on Wednesday.
With a $15 PTA Green Team budget, students visit the Austin Library's Recycled Reads to purchase books to "seed" the Book Swap. The Recycled Reads selections were featured at a special table to entice students to think about buying used library books in the future!
An "almost" trash-free lunch!
Another Trash-Free lunch!
A pack of 5th graders cross Mesa at Far West...walking together to school!
