April 30th- Keep Austin Beautiful Aquatics Field Day-

Students went caving at Whirlpool cave (near Mopac) with a local professional caver.  We discussed geology and how the Barton Creek aquifer works.  Then we went to Barton Springs and talked about the Barton Springs Salamander. We went into the springs that are blocked off to protect the salamander habitat.  Students got to see a salamander.  Then we went to the creek and did a macro study of the creek. Students looked for signs of the creek's health.
