Healthy Hornets
By:
Healthy Hornets is a program utilized in our cafeteria to encourage students to eat more fruits and vegetables. During the second through fifth six weeks of the school year, students are "caught" eating fruits and vegetables by the cafeteria monitor during lunches. If students are "caught" eating fruits and vegetables they receive tickets. The students write their name and their teacher's name on the ticket and they drop their ticket into the Healthy Hornet box. Every six weeks, six to ten names are drawn out of the Healthy Hornet box during morning announcements. Students whose names are drawn receive prizes which are donated by the Katy ISD Food Services Department. In addition to their prize, students receive a certificate which is displayed in the cafeteria for six weeks. At the end of that period, students take their certificates home.
