Single-Stream Recycling
By:
This year at William B. Travis High School we will be increasing our efforts to pickup and separate the single-stream recyclables. They include all of the same items that are currently being picked up by the City of Austin in the large blue bins at residences and commercial businesses. The combined efforts of the Rebel Green Team, Life Skills and Student Council will make this more successful than last year and aide in freeing up the involvement that our campus custodial team spends on this. We hope to bring more education to the campus on what is allowed and what will go into the regular waste bin. There will be more places on campus to properly dispose of these items.
The items are:
• magazines
• catalogues
• newspaper
• envelopes
• sticky notes
• file folders
• cereal boxes
• cookie boxes
• food boxes
• shipping boxes
• soda cans*
• water bottles*
• food containers*
• yogurt containers*
• soup or tuna cans*
• glass bottles*
*rinse clean, please!
These items DO NOT GO IN THE BLUE BIN

• garbage
• plastic bags
• styrofoam
• light bulbs
• batteries
• aerosol cans
• coat hangers
• clothing
