The Nature Adventure challenge is an opportunity for your school to show just how adventurous you are with your nature activities.
Entries should address one of the following:
Exploration and Play: Demonstrate how schools have planned extracurricular activities outdoors at a park, nature center, farm, creek or trail.
Outdoor Skills: Demonstrate the learning, training or proficiency in nature-based skills
Nature Spaces: Show how the school provides space to be active and/or observe nature and how they are used
Goals of the Challenge:
- Increase participation of students and staff in outdoor, nature-based activities
- Heighten awareness of existing K-12 nature-based programs
Judging Criteria:
Submissions will be judged based on:
- Quality of published activity (Tells a story of what/how was accomplished; Pictures/video help bring the activity to life; Helpful to those who might be interested in implementing a similar initiative; Illustrate results)
- Number of students and/or community members involved
- Success of program
Rules:
- Submissions must be made by teachers and students in grades K-12
- Activities must be published in the Nature Adventure Cornerstone under the appropriate category.
- When starting your activity on the Green Ribbon Schools website, in the KEYWORDS blank you must put the following words: Earth Month, Nature Adventure Challenge (If you've already published an activity and need to add these keywords please see the FAQ page).
- Published activities must include text AND media (photo, video and/or audio) or it will NOT be considered. (If you've already published an activity and need to add photos please see the FAQ page.)
- Activities must be published by May 15, 2012.

Two winners will be chosen to receive 60 REI Naglene 16oz Wide-Mouth Loop-Top Water Bottles, valued at $8.95 each this prize is valued over $500.
