Entering the contest is as easy as 1-2-3:

• Follow the teacher friendly Lesson Plan provided in the Toolkit below (For those with no Game Design experience, allow 4-5 weeks to complete the lesson plan)
• Review the Submission Checklist below to make sure you have completed all the requirements for submission
• Make sure you publish your Results Page submission on the Green Ribbon Schools website by May 1st.

What is a Results Page and how do I Create and then Publish one?

Completing a game design contest can be a new and intimidating adventure. So we have provided an easy to use Toolkit, with the right tools to help you succeed.

The Toolkit includes:

• Lesson Plan: This Lesson Plan will take you and your students from no Game Design experience to completing contest submission in 4-5 weeks (with Game Design experience -a matter of days). This Lesson Plan was developed with the help of teachers, students and industry leaders, and is designed to make the process extremely simple and fun for teachers and students alike.
• Submission Checklist: A checklist for you to follow, so you know exactly what you need to complete in order to have a complete submission for the contest.
• Calendar: A calendar that shows you how you can complete the Lesson Plan in less than 5 weeks.
• How To Videos: To walk you through how to complete specific steps in the Lesson Plan
• Resources To help you discuss healthy eating, exercising and a healthy lifestyle with your students.

Prizes:

• Prizes: 5 NOTEBOOK COMPUTERS to be awarded to each winning entry: 1 for each student on the winning team (max of 3), 1 for the teacher, 1 for the school)
• 4 Winning Entries: We will award 1 winning entry per grade level (1 elementary, 1 middle and 1 high school) and then 1 BESTIVORE (Best Overall Award)

 

Judging Criteria:

Submissions will be judged based on:

• Completion of the "Submission Checklist".
• Game Lesson: How creatively and powerfully you teach a healthy lesson with your game
• Lesson Learned: How well you explain and display the health lesson you learned and want to teach others, by including text and images/video in your RESULTS page on Green Ribbon Schools.

 

Rules:

• Submissions must be made by teachers and students in grades K-12
• You may have more than 3 students on a team, but there will be a max of 3 student Notebook Computers awarded to the winning teams (in addition to the 1 for the teacher and 1 for the school).
• Inappropriate content in your Results page presentation will immediately disqualify you from the contest
• Teacher: When Starting your activity on the Green Ribbon Schools website, in the KEYWORDS blank you must put the following words: AMD, gaming, video game, health
• You must have completed all steps and included all content from the Submission Checklist.
