Dunes Restoration

The Environmental Leadership elective went on a stewardship fieldtrip to Galveston Island on February 23, 2012.  Working with Artist Boat leaders, the students planted native grasses and plants at Pirates Beach.   They learned the importance of securing the beach with plants so that the sand would not be washed away during a hurricane or storm surge.  The students also learned techniques to water-color their observations of wildlife and beach scenes.
