In a few short weeks, you and your students can go from no game design experience to publishing your health related online video games on the Green Ribbon Schools website. The best part is we will show you exactly how to do this.

We understand that Game Design can be new and intimidating. So we have developed a simple Lesson Plan for teachers to follow. No matter how computer-phobic you may be, you can complete this Lesson Plan with your students in 3-5 weeks (some have even completed it in less). No game design or coding experience necessary. (With game design experience you can complete this in a matter of days).

So dismiss those thoughts of intimidation and truly engage your students in learning about health, while also enhancing their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) skills and career skills. Find out how to enter.

Entering the contest is as easy as 1-2-3:

• Follow the teacher friendly Lesson Plan provided in the Toolkit below (For those with no Game Design experience, allow 4-5 weeks to complete the lesson plan)
• Review the Submission Checklist below to make sure you have completed all the requirements for submission
• Make sure you publish your Results Page submission on the Green Ribbon Schools website by March 31st.

What is a Results Page and how do I Create and then Publish one?

Completing a game design contest can be a new and intimidating adventure. So we have provided an easy to use Toolkit, with the right tools to help you succeed.

The Toolkit includes:

• Lesson Plan: This Lesson Plan will take you and your students from no Game Design experience to completing contest submission in 4-5 weeks (with Game Design experience -a matter of days). This Lesson Plan was developed with the help of teachers, students and industry leaders, and is designed to make the process extremely simple and fun for teachers and students alike.
• Submission Checklist: A checklist for you to follow, so you know exactly what you need to complete in order to have a complete submission for the contest.
• Calendar: A calendar that shows you how you can complete the Lesson Plan in less than 5 weeks.
• How To Videos: To walk you through how to complete specific steps in the Lesson Plan
• Resources To help you discuss healthy eating, exercising and a healthy lifestyle with your students.

Prizes:

• We will award 3 winning entries - one per grade level (1 elementary, 1 middle and 1 high school)

Judging Criteria:

Submissions will be judged based on:

• Completion of the "Submission Checklist".
• Game Lesson: How creatively and powerfully you teach a healthy lesson with your game
• Lesson Learned: How well you explain and display the health lesson you learned and want to teach others, by including text and images/video in your RESULTS page on Green Ribbon Schools.

Rules:

• Submissions must be made by teachers and students in grades K-12
• You may have more than 3 students on a team, but there will be a max of 3 student Notebook Computers awarded to the winning teams (in addition to the 1 for the teacher and 1 for the school).
• Inappropriate content and copyrighted material in your Results page presentation will immediately disqualify you from the contest
• Teacher: When Starting your project on the Green Ribbon Schools website, you must choose "Health and Fitness-Health Education" from the Cornerstone-Category pull-down, and then choose "Healthivores VG Contest" from the Subcategory pull-down. Also in the KEYWORDS blank you must put the following: AMD
• You must have completed all steps and included all content from the Submission Checklist.
