The student council members save plastic bottles to be recycled.  They clean up after football games and keep a receptacle in the gym for plastic bottles.  This is a huge campaign.  You see not only students from our school throwing their bottles in, but also students from other schools, parents and faculty. 

The bottles are used for so many different things. Of course, we create spirit shakers for games and various events.  The bottles are also used for various are projects.  All bottles that are left over, are picked up by a local recycling company.

SHAKER RECIPE:  You need, a drop of acrylic paint in one of your school's colors, fish rocks and hot glue.  Options: Spray paint and ribbon.

Place about a tablespoon of fish rocks in the bottle, add a drop of acrylic paint, hot glue the lid onto the bottle and start shakin'!  The outside of the bottle can also be spray painted to help design.  We have also put some ribbon around the neck of the bottle as well to design it up a bit.
