Timmerman Watt Watchers

Watt Watchers
The basic program gets our students to patrol the school looking for empty classrooms with the lights on. They turn out the lights and leave a reminder ticket for the teacher (or a thank you note if the lights are consistently out). The students keep track of their patrol numbers; number of lights on in use, number of lights on not in use and lights
out. We have had Watt Watcher program instructors meet with staff during staff meeting to introduce the program and for reflections on improvement and progress. It is a school community energy conservation plan.
Timmerman came in second in terms of saving energy so far this year on a current poll taken by the district. This is a great achievement, considering we have the oldest building in the school district and the walls are made of cinder blocks! Our students have developed great
habits in checking for monitors, lights, etc. before leaving the room. We have teachers in charge of groups that patrol the school. Our principal, Christy Chandler, keep a log of data to see where we can improve in the future. The students are active in helping our school save money and the environment at the same time!
