ZERO-WASTE GREEN LUNCHES
Wyatt is working hard to earn the Green Ribbon School award
this year, and we are encouraging parents to help us become a more eco-friendly
campus by packing zero-waste lunches for your children.
The average school lunch brought from home contains items
such as juice boxes, plastic zip-top bags, aluminum foil, yogurt cups, paper
napkins, and single-serve packages of snacks.
These items make up an average of 67 pounds of waste for just one child in
a school year, which adds up to almost 40,000 pounds of trash produced at
Wyatt. While these products may be
convenient, they end up in landfills for thousands of years, and are more
expensive as well. But Wyatt can do
better!
Here are some zero-waste lunch options…
Instead of: |

In addition, there are recycling bins in the cafeteria for
juice pouches, cans and water bottles, and chip bags, so please encourage your
child to use those containers for their recyclable items.
