Meals On Wheels Gardens

Our four (8' x 12') Meals On Wheels Herb Gardens were looking pretty shabby!  Then again, the wooden timbers that surrounded the beds had seen 8 years of Texas sun, lots and lots of children's feet and stood guard over their precious harvest.

 

                  

We've grown basil, rosemary, oregano and other herbs for Meals On Wheels and More of Austin.  If you have extra space in your school garden, think about doing this!  Due to dietary restrictions, MOW doesn't use much salt, and fresh herbs are a terrific flavor-booster.  Herbs are expensive to buy, but easy to grow!  It's great for our students to know their efforts matter to the MOW clients.
