Last Out, Lights Out!

Last Out, Lights Out! is a program designed to promote the reduction in energy consumption by educating students and staff on the importance of turning the lights out or electronics off when not in use.  Neon green signs with the program's slogan "Last Out, Lights Out!" are posted above each light switch in the building.  The purpose of the program is to remind students and staff that when the lights or other items such as computers are not in use, they should be turned off or powered off to help reduce the amount of energy used by the school.  The entire campus is involved in energy efficiency.  We will use the district's energy audit and compare this year to last year.  There is no money required for this program, and it will be monitored throughout the year.

Go Green Team!

We have a team of 4th graders led by a 4th grade teacher who make up the Go Green Team!  This team monitors and collects the recycling bins from each classroom each week to put in the huge campus recycling bin.  The purpose of this program is to remind students to be mindful of recycling.  Every student and staff member participates in our campus wide recycling program.  There is no money required for this program.  We will post photos of the Go Green Team in action.

WOW- Walk or Wheel to School

This program is sponsored by our PTA.  The purpose is to encourage students to walk or wheel to school.  They earn points for walking or riding their bike or scooter to school.  The points can then be spent in the WOW store throughout the year.  We will have a kick off on October 3rd.  Students will recieve a healthy snack and a hand stamp for walking or wheeling to school.  On October 31st, students and parents will meet at a central location and walk to school together.  This helps promote safety and a healthy lifestyle.  The budget for this program is less than $500 and provided by PTA.  All students may participate.  We will post photos of the kick off and walking school bus.

Greenprint for PGES

Our Science Vertical Team will help set goals for the year to earn our Green Ribbon status. It is also in our Campus Improvement Plan.  The benefit of creating this greenprint is that it will help us focus our goals, be forward thinking, and enable us to have a plan to achieve the Green Ribbon status.
